OutPost is operated by Shanie Martin, trading as OutPost, a sole trader in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the information described here. Contact: hello@outpostsocial.ai. Registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, registration number ZC166037.
We collect:
- Your account details, such as your email address.
- The business and brand information you give us during onboarding and in the app, used to generate your content.
- The content, briefs and preferences you create and edit in OutPost.
- Engagement insights for social accounts you choose to connect, read on your behalf through our analytics provider.
- Billing information, handled by our payment provider. We don’t store your full card number.
- Anonymous, short-lived usage and device information used to produce aggregate service statistics.
We use your information to provide OutPost: to generate and improve your content, run your account, take payment, and keep the service secure and working. Our legal bases are performing our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and improving the product, and, where relevant, your consent. We don’t sell your data. Our team may access your account, including the strategy and content we generate for you, to provide support and keep the product working correctly.
To produce your drafts, the business information and instructions you provide are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to generate text and graphics. This is core to how OutPost works. We don’t use your content to train AI models.
To make OutPost smarter for everyone, we may study which kinds of content tend to perform well and combine that into anonymised, grouped patterns across businesses in the same broad sector, for example which post formats tend to reach more people for cafés. These patterns are statistical only. They never include your individual content, captions, figures, or anything that identifies your business, and a pattern is only ever formed from a group of several businesses, so no single one can be singled out. We do this under our legitimate interest in improving the product. You can ask us to leave your data out of this grouped analysis at any time by emailing hello@outpostsocial.ai.
We use a small set of trusted providers to run OutPost, who process data on our instructions and only to provide their part of the service:
- Supabase — database and account sign-in.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Anthropic — AI generation of your drafts.
- Stripe — payments and card handling.
- Zernio — reading insights for social accounts you connect, and publishing posts you schedule.
- Resend — service emails, such as reminders.
- Inngest — secure background processing for scheduled jobs.
- Google — optional sign-in if you choose it.
- Apple — optional sign-in if you choose it.
- PostHog — anonymous, aggregate service analytics configured without persistent visitor profiles or session recording.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK, mainly in the United States. Where your information is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the UK’s approved safeguards for that transfer, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.
If you connect a social account, we receive authorised account details, published-post information and performance metrics through Zernio and the selected platform. If you upload or describe information about another person, you are responsible for having a lawful reason to do so. Please do not submit sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely necessary and you are authorised to use it.
OutPost uses AI to prepare drafts, recommendations and suggested posting times. You remain in control of what is approved and published. OutPost does not use this processing to make solely automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. If you ask us to delete your account, we hold it for a 14-day grace period in case you change your mind, then permanently delete it. We may keep limited billing records for longer where UK accounting and tax law requires (currently up to 6 years).
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, delete or port your data, and object to or restrict some processing. This includes asking for a copy of the information we hold about you and objecting to the use of grouped, cross-customer performance statistics. Email hello@outpostsocial.ai to exercise a right. We will record and respond to your request, may ask you to confirm your identity, and will apply any valid objection to our systems. You can separately object to anonymous service analytics through the control in our Cookie Notice; that choice is distinct from an objection to grouped statistical learning. You can also delete your account from settings or complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we’d like the chance to help first.
To make a data protection complaint, email hello@outpostsocial.ai with that subject. We will acknowledge it within 30 days, investigate without undue delay, keep you informed where appropriate, and tell you the outcome. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
We use essential cookies needed to sign you in and keep the app working, plus a preference cookie that remembers if you object to anonymous statistical analytics. We do not use analytics for advertising, persistent individual profiles or cross-site tracking. Campaign details may be passed directly into signup links without a tracking cookie.
We may update this policy as OutPost develops, and we’ll update the date above when we do.
